Greetings! 

I know what you're thinking? Cassandra Jean? I thought she died or slipped into a Gatorade-induced-coma. 

No, I'm alive, but I have been dreadfully busy lately and unable to update Land of Lions the last couple of months. I feel guilty knowing you guys are waiting for new chapters without any heads up from me so I would like to make proper announcements now on the matter if you'd let me!

First off, I'd like to say how happy I am to come back to this site and see how busy it is, there are SO many talented artists here it's a little daunting, you guys are amazing! (And I'm loving the new layout). And as much as I'd like to contribute a new chapter with the rest of you this month, I'm a little too busy and for the sake of not running myself completely ragid, I will need to take another month or two before I feel like I'll be up for steady updating again. 

So Land of Lions is on Hiatus until February or March. Pass the Rubicon may be on Hiatus for a longer period.

In case you are wondering, there is a reason for why I seem so busy. Lately I have been working for Yen Press. My first book with them, Beautiful Creatures, will be available in February 2013. And a short-story, Something Wikkid, which illustrated with them will be available soon (I don't know the exact date at the moment but I believe it is available on the YenPress app). And I had barely finished those projects when they approached me with a new book which I can not announce the title of yet but I'm very excited about (It will have color too!) I have been working on this straight through the holidays, there is no rest for the wicked! 

On top of this, I have cheerfully worked on the Shadowhunter Codex as one of a team of illustrators, it will be available November 2013. I'm a HUGE fan of the Mortal Instrument series so I feel like a well-fed cat getting some of my artwork into that project. 

Along with all that, I have been working commissions, postcards, stickers.... anyway, basically, I am busy and unfortunately because of this Land of Lions has had to take a back seat. When I get my schedule smoothed out in the new year, however, I plan to pick the story back up again. 

On a side note, you guys voted and the Orca will be the new oceanic tribe of the Land of Lions!

Okay, here we go, time to really announce it!

The reason I’ve been so seemingly unproductive lately is because I’ve been pouring every spare moment into working on the manga adaptation of Beautiful Creatures for Yen Press! Chapter 1 came out today in Yen+ magazine (the May issue) while Lena & Ethan hog the cover! So now I can ramble about it.

The original novel Beautiful Creatures is written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, and it’s an incredible series so I’m super thrilled to be illustrating and adapting it!! I’m fangirling as I draw it so it keeps me ridiculously energized.

The chapters will come out in the monthly issues of Yen+ magazine (an online magazine run by Yen Press that you will need to subscribe to if you want to read). And after all of the chapters come out in the magazine, then the printed version will become available to buy~
