I was really happy the other day when people started reading my last comic!
(it's here by the way: http://www.mangamagazine.net/manga-and-comics/Swords-and-Sorcery/detail-page/3606?lang=en)
I haven't been really active in a while so I thought I'd update you on what I'm working on/what I'll upload.
This story is actually finished, but I haven't scanned/translated it yet ^^; I will upload it more slowly than anything else-> http://www.mangamagazine.net/manga-and-comics/Lie-to-Me/detail-page/2360?lang=en...
I also drew a manga about my trip to Cambodia last year will upload it after I translate/resize everything...
Before I do that I will finish uploading the knight and magic-user story. I was so happy ppl liked it that I am in the middle of plotting out the prologue!! I hope you guys will like it...
Lastly, I am in the middle of slowly slowly drawing a BL one-shot that Schumie wrote! I feel bad bc it is taking me forever but it will get done this year! Her characters are really cute <3
In other news I got a job...and it's here, in Japan...and it's manga-related! Let's hope everything goes okay...I'm gonna be attending two comic events in August, so if you are in Japan please come and say hi ;D It's fun meeting mm people!

Assistants 2

so I just came back from a manga-ka's studio :D
and now I will gloat as vaguely as possible.
I can't really tell any details but I begged the author to let me help out ( by whining about how I'm American and in America there would never be a chance for me to assist a professional manga author) and he called me up (miraculously) and let me come over.
Then I toned for 5.5 hrs. Somehow the experience struck me as fun. I think it was getting to work on pages that are so professionally constructed. When I walked in and was handed some pages I almost died of nervousness...
"...You are actually letting me TOUCH these?! Wait...I'm supposed to not just touch them, but actually add to them in some way?!?"
I almost cut into the first page I worked on because I was holding my cutter with a crazy death-grip. Luckily I did not ruin anything (that I know of). I don't know how much he was getting a page, but one page in his magazine is probably worth $80++ per page.
Imagine if I accidentally ruined something....
I wonder if he'll let me help out again...I didn't get money, but I got a bento dinner with yakiniku in it ^^;
Anyhoo, it was an interesting experience. I'm going to go out and try to buy the magazine the week it comes out so I can stare at the main chara's hair and say, "Yep, I toned that."
This is an anticlimatic story.

Assistants

I think that hiring assistants means something good, bc if you can afford them, you are probably a selling author.
In case you don't know what assistants do/are:
assistants are the people who draw everything the manga-ka does not want to. Like effects and backgrounds...Most everything except the main characters. Some manga-ka only use them for toning and finishing up pages.
This last Monday my teacher told us that he is going to be working on something during the summer and since we have summer vacation he was thinking of maybe taking on an assistant....
I was excited, to say the least. He draws shonen manga and he is pretty good (; o ; ) I hope I can get that good one day.
Anyway, I want to show him what I can draw by Monday so that hopefully he will let me work for him....
One of my goals for Tokyo was to try and be an assistant at least once...I really wanna check that goal off my list.
Only thing is that I need to make myself less messy and more detail-oriented. It's hard OTL
