Hello everyone~, welcome to my second blog post in the Top Mistakes Beginning Mangaka Make. This time, I'm bringing up a topic I hadn't intended to bring up until later... But in light of some recent events which I'm not going to mention explicitly, I thought it might be worthwhile to get this out in the open. Again, I disclaim that these are only my opinions, and mine alone. I don't pretend to be an expert on any of these topics, and I hereby give you all the right to agree or disagree with ...

Soooo, this is my first blog entry, and i only did it because SOMEONE suggested i should post one of my short stories here. So, if it gets any attention, i might start posting my short stories here as blog entries :D (I'll do a PROPER blog entry about myself and stuff this weekend, probably.). So without further ado, here it is. Enjoy the read ^_^ ...In the misty outskirts at the small town of Belborough, existed a small and rusty hotel, going by the name of "Belborough Inn". It ...

So yah, another story xD This time it's an old script i wrote like 2 years back....I'm considering attempting to turn it into a manga. If any artists see this and like it, do tell :D Project CMPRS Chapter 1 Page 1: The city of Luna EX is shown (with the view far away enough so the whole city can be seen along with parts of the moon, but not too far away.) Text:”The place is this city built on the moon. The time is now - 18:00:59, 13th September 2511. Most definitively there are many event...

First of all, I would like to say that MM has been one of the greatest comic/manga hosting sites out there. I mean, I can see how these volunteers are so helpful. It made me think I should stay here for awhile BUT there's one thing that annoy me about this site: SPAMMING. Yes, thats right. What do I mean by spamming? Well, let me tell you. There are these wonderful authors who would love to comment and then suddenly put their link of their manga for advertisement. And then, they do it the sam...

Using Clipping Masks which is a very handy tool that I use almost of everything; toning, shading, highlighting and colored lineart. 1. ( of course) I always line on a new blank layer 2. Color lineart using clipping masks using one of the 2 following methods; (a) Slow: -Add New layer -Right click new Layer > pick “Create clipping mask” - Color What clipping masks does, is that is takes whatever is there on the layer it’s clipped to and use it as base for whatever is drawn on it. It adds the co...

Disclaimer: I am not forcing my views and opinion on this subject on anyone. I am just putting this out there to help encourage others who might have struggled with this or are struggling with this and beating themselves up about using reference. For those of you who get offended then well that's very normal too and feel free to vent out your frustration but don't be surprised with what is said back ^^ I recently stumbled upon this interesting post over on D Helmer tumblr. I’ll go ahead and c...

Okay, here we go, time to really announce it! The reason I’ve been so seemingly unproductive lately is because I’ve been pouring every spare moment into working on the manga adaptation of Beautiful Creatures for Yen Press! Chapter 1 came out today in Yen+ magazine (the May issue) while Lena & Ethan hog the cover! So now I can ramble about it. The original novel Beautiful Creatures is written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, and it’s an incredible series so I’m super thrilled to be illustrat...

Hello everyone. It is i, Kolosos, making another thread for another manga project. And as always, i'm looking for a talented manga artist to join me on this quest towards awesomeness! This is the last one, i swear! But please, do keep reading. So, the manga's name is Marbles of Will, or in japanese - 覇気のマブル (read as Haki no Maburu). Basically, it's about early teenagers (13-15 year olds) battling each other with super-powered marbles. Sounds plain and generic, right? Keep reading, and i will ...

Blyu asks: Pow Pow! What pen sizes do you use? Do you alternate pens a lot or do you tend to stick with one? ALSO- what character is your favorite to draw? :"3c I use mainly three pens in inking my comics. The pen on the left is the one I use to do the linework. It is called a Falcon pen and is no longer in production, but it has similiar qualities to current G pens. The middle pen is called a Bank pen. It is actually virtually identical to current G pens in writing characteristics, but ...

So as I had mentioned something about getting into a magazine... the opportunity has passed. I had a minimum of 5 pages to work with and I just couldn't do it. As with many of my other comics on this site, I haven't started (or restarted in some cases) as making comics for me is like struggling to breathe underwater. It's incredibly difficult and I wish I had the skills to do it. (or rather the money to afford to learn). Since I don't and I'm getting pretty old... I find myself envious of tho...

"You want to turn our story into a comic...?" Once upon a time there was a beautiful maiden---er... artist. Yeah, that's about right. I'm sure damsel in distress and "artist" coincide with one another perfectly as it is. Ahem, as I was saying--Once upon a time, there was a beautiful and distinguished artist that befriended a lowly and degenerate writer prone to cynicism and indifference. They began to conjure ideas and with those ideas came stories written together. One such story would ev...

Wooooooo! Juytei on the interwebs once again :D! Hey Everyone! So, I'm currently on my spring break (!!!!) and I've done a lot so far :>. First thing I did was take my first drive up to Boston for Anime Boston. The trip was so tiring. The Convention on the other had was pretty fun! I met with our awesome staff! I hope they don't mind me posting a picture here :) (if so I'll take it down). The convention overall was pretty cool, it was my first time going to a convention like that. ...
