Hi! My name is Jaluna Rolik- or at least I like to write with that name. I like making comics in ComiPo, with a variety of story ideas and genres. Some are more interesting than others, but I find doing different things is even more fun than just sticking to one genre- and mixing is always a blast! But while I love writing manga, I also love reading it, and I especially love shoujo, shoujo-ai and slice of life stories. :)

A bit more about me: I'm not the best role-model in terms of health or school, but I'd like to think I'm a nice person. I like talking to people about their problems, and I like helping others when I can. My life is pretty simple and I don't have a schedule, but what I lack in motivation and drive I make up for in creativity...Or something.

Currently, my main focus is on my manga Alien Irony. I've been working on re-doing it so that it's better and easier to understand. I hope people like the changes :) Whenever I get writers block, I work on my other stories (recently Luna Blue) to keep my brain...semi-working. I find my best working conditions are when it's semi-quiet, I've got a lot of sugar in my system and, quite strangely, I'm lacking sleep many times.

...I really have to get out more.

  • Tiered Chaptering

So while I was working on Mission 2's rework in Alien Irony...I came across an idea for my work in order to help me in times where I have multiple ideas for the same segment: tiered chaptering. In my case, that means...I save ComiPo at the point before I am going to do multiple scenarios. Then, I make one, save it as a secondary file, make the other, etc. I've done it once so far. Now I may have to do it just to choose different chapters to put where all together, especially since...I can't figure out a standard number of pages.

My current highest page count is 10. If I do it basically as the original for Mission 3, it may or may not be a big deal, but I feel like it needs more beef. Like...A special way to end it at least, or something happening before the climax of the chapter. But depending on what I do, it could be a lot more than 10 pages- or it could be less again. How do you fellow manga makers decide a stopping point? Do you worry about a specific page count, or do you let it just go naturally even if some chapters are going to be much more lengthy than others? And how do you choose the direction of your story, and what goes where?

In other news on my end..We're switching cable companies, and the company promotion is giving us a 200 dollar gift card to use as we please. To top it off, in 3 months we'll be getting 50 more from two channels (25 each) for having them. My dad has said that the 200 dollar gift card is going to be for my own use (the choices were the gift card and an iPod that was worth a couple dollars less anyway, and I got to choose). Y'know what that means? That thing's getting tucked away so I can afford more stuff for ComiPo later o3o Sweeeeet.

  • Still Gaming

So I haven't been doing much work on comics lately. I do doodle a bit, but since it's a pain to fight with the scanner, I'm not really posting anything I've done. I'm working on coloring some coloring-book pages and such...But that's it. Oh, and I've been playing a MMORPG lately. Makes me want to work on Tech Reborn more, but I just can't think of how to work it right now xD Oh well...

  • Too Much To Do!

So I was thinking about all the random stories I've written in my life, and decided to make one into a manga- or at least make a couple pages for fun. One of my favorite works I wrote in the earliest years of my teenage life has two official pages already. I don't know why, but it just fit in my head- though to be honest, I'm starting to think I'm a little crazy with how many ideas I have, yet haven't focused no solely. I do bits of one thing, then another. Seriously, can I really keep this up?

Anyway, current stories I'm working on actively/thinking of:

    • Our Days in the Cooking Club - Active - Shoujo-AI about a few girls in an all-girls school and their lives together.
    • Alien Irony - Active - Sci-Fi about an alien teen leading a military operation, and suddenly having to protect a guy from her evil father...?
    • Mixing Lives  - Inactive - Basically a rehash of my own life. Debating this currently since I don't know how to do it without people online becoming obvious if they read it xD
    • Tech Reborn - Semi-Active - Somewhat similar to .hack but with all self-made characters. Most likely to focus on the second, which I scripted recently for Script Frenzy, and follows the main character as she tries to understand the coma outbreak from a few years ago in her home world after being materialized.
    • Star of Satseiya - Semi-Active- The thing I mentioned up above this list. Basically a shoujo story about a girl and the mysterious transfer student who knows far too much about her.
