Hey Guys,
We've all been working hard on our own mangas... and we've been checking out other people's when we have time or when they ask us to. But an important aspect to growing as an artist is good contructive criticism and general feedback. Now I know that everyone has their own preferences... and people usually like what they are good at. they like it, so they spend more time on that aspect... and therefore they get better at it. it's like having a fovorite technique or signature move as a martial artist. the problem with favorite moves though, from a martial arts standpoint, is that they can get you killed. you have to develop all areas, and work harder on your weaknesses instead of just focusing on your strengths.
it's the same with art and manga. we have to focus not just on our strengths or our favorite things but also on our weaknesses. That way we are well rounded and well balanced. so it's important with reviews to look at all areas and aspects. this is hard to do. like i said, if you are good at something, you naturally lead with that thing... you focus on it, it comes easy, it seems natural, you are in your element. so when we read other peoples stuff those are the things we are looking at. That's why EVERYONE needs to comment and review. You might think well this guy does action better than me... or this person colors better... or this person writes better stories... or this peson does the coolest looking people... or she draws amazing backgrounds and mine suck... and because of that you don't want to comment. but in order to get a real idea of something we need all eyes, and all minds, and all skills speaking on the subject and then it balances itself out. you get a truer clearer picture that way.
we all want to get better. we all want to improve. we all want to grow. but we need rivals and competition and peers and practice and friends and comrades and teachers and masters to do that.
I've only asked a few people to look at my manga, KNIFE HEART ROAD, so far... and what was interesting is that a writer said the art was awesome but the sriting sucked, an exceptional artist said the writing was good but the art sucked, an amazing colorist said the style was cool but that the coloring sucked... but you get the idea. their strengths were my weaknesses... and what they were less strong at, they liked about mine.
I want all of you to look at it now... chapter one is wrapping up, and i'm getting ready for chapter two. I want chapter two to be way better than chapter one... help me make it that way.
READ IT HERE>>> KNIFE HEART ROAD
If you like it FAVE it and tell me some of the things you liked. If you don't like it... tell me what you didn't like, and FAVE it anyway... so that when i make it better you wont miss it!
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE. HELP ME MAKE THIS MANGA THE BEST IT CAN BE!!! IT'S MY DREAM!

It's my DREAM to be a professional MANGA-KA/COMICKER here in the States...
I'm working on finding my way, my style, my voice...
I believe we were made to worship God, and I hope to do that with my art & with my stories.
Right now I'm working on a manga called "THE WAY". It's a creative reimagining of the Gospel told as it may have looked in the spirit realm, with samurai sword fights and super powers.
I'm also working on KNIFE HEART ROAD ... which you can read >>> HERE. I started it about a year ago, and then let it go when I couldn't seem to make much progress with it. Now, nine months later, I'm picking it up again, just to work on, on the side, for practice and for fun. Check it out... new art starts on PAGE 24.
