I'm hardly a professional letterer, but part of my day job is to work with lettering files for comic books. I picked up a lot of really fun and informative tips and tricks by learning from the pros! Disclaimer: I'm probably not all that qualified to tell you. But as a foreigner trying to do manga here, I guess I can think up an okay answer. Think about it. Is it easy for a Japanese person in Japan to do manga? No, no, no....a thousand times no.
