    Eviction Conviction

Well, I guess this is one of those bumps in the road. Although, this isn't the first bump I've hit in my 22 years of life, and it will hardly be the last. Turns out, I couldn't catch up the debt that I was left with by my roommate, and now I'm being evicted from my apartment next week. Fortunately, I have recently sharpened my Katanas and I have enough food to last a couple weeks on the road. Who knows. My main character survived on the road (in my scripts at least) and I have some basic surv...

    Things That Float

I keep seeing this thing recently, always kind of floating around and watching, silently. It's not like a physical thing, apparition is what Luke called it. I've been seeing it for the last couple of weeks, on the edges of my vision, just this dark shape, floating by. There isn't much to it, just a thin shape, covered in gossamer cloth. Luke said it sounds like "an imagining of death," but I don't think that's what it is. I've been around death quite often for six years, and this thing isn't ...

    Yen Press : Beautiful Creatures

Okay, here we go, time to really announce it! The reason I’ve been so seemingly unproductive lately is because I’ve been pouring every spare moment into working on the manga adaptation of Beautiful Creatures for Yen Press! Chapter 1 came out today in Yen+ magazine (the May issue) while Lena & Ethan hog the cover! So now I can ramble about it. The original novel Beautiful Creatures is written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, and it’s an incredible series so I’m super thrilled to be illustrat...

    a Reader's Thoughts on Font

Hi all,  i'm just a reader here on this site and thought i'd throw some tips out there from my perspective. the tips that i am posting about are centered around font. font being an important tool conveying a message as well as another asthetic element for comics/manga. i'm not quite sure if that is something anyone pays attention to but i think its pretty interesting. especially whenever i see a sudden switch from a plain font to frantic handwritting, its fun or scary depending on what i'm re...

Is it hard for a foreigner to do manga in Japan?

Disclaimer: I'm probably not all that qualified to tell you. But as a foreigner trying to do manga here, I guess I can think up an okay answer.  Think about it. Is it easy for a Japanese person in Japan to do manga? No, no, no....a thousand times no. So that brings us to the original question,  which has the added handicaps of Japanese not being your native language and you needing a visa to even reside in the country.  To make things worse, publishing companies are having a hell of a time th...
