Okay, I'm going to have a small list here.

First of all, Kira Yamato, from Gundam Seed. I thought that Kira's personality was very complex and over-all, very well-written. You can just feel his agony at the beginning of the series after every battle he'd had to come and face. The series itself was real in many ways (Minus the huge mecha war against the Coordinators and Naturals of course), I'm talking about the way most of the characters handled their roles and situations.

Take Fllay Allster for instance. At the first part of the series, she was nothing but a spoiled naive brat, but when her SPOILER ALERT: Father dies, she just loses it and starts to meddle, to pull strings within the war in her own little way, using who else but Kira. I think it's wonderful the way the series brought about her transformation, from a spoiled, rich brat -- to a crazy, manipulating bitch, -- to a person who'd realized that they'd done wrong, that in every choice she made, she chose the wrong one.

Another character with a striking personality (in my opinion), is Allen Walker, from D.Gray-man. Typically, in shounen manga, you see heroes who are out-going, nit-witted but strong willed and determined, other times you get heroes who are kind and gentle, generous and brave.

Allen Walker is a gentlemen, and yet he is all of these things. That's what makes his personality so striking for me. He acts like a complete angel, when he is actually capable than just a scheming little devil in disguise , he is humble but is capable of being cheeky as well, his kind personality generally gives you the impression that he's a huge push-over, but he isn't. Not at all. I love Allen Walker for this, in fact, he's probably at the top of my list when it comes to favorite characters.
