This is something I've had bouncing around my mind for about four years now. Real life intervened, and I haven't had the inspiration to create any more on it, but, as I've lately been getting into drawing manga, I'd thought it might be a nice idea to pitch and get feed back on whilst I work on The Dark Streets.
Basically, humanity has destroyed what civilization it had, via nuclear warfare. In the decades long nuclear winter that followed, humanity faced starvation, disease, predation by the more violent groups left, and attack by radiation-mutated beasts that had gained infrared vision.
Humanity, being the plucky group they are, survived. And when the first rays of sunlight dawned, so did a surge of powers amongst a group settling a city they now called Hope.
These humans are empowered with the ability to control elements, and have sprouted angelic wings. They are capable of flight, are far stronger than your average human, and their nearly magical power sets them far above your common person. They are dubbed Angels, as elements of Christianity still cling to some tenants of society. A church, named ARC, is formed to lend credence to their seemingly divine nature, and to guide and shape the growing population.
The beasts are still there, nocturnal as their eyes were overdeveloped for night and dark times. Bandits still roam the area around the city.
The main character of course is later found to be an angel, a youth named Rei who works as a stonemason with his uncle.
Follows him through learning his powers and overcoming several foes. Don't want to spoil any more

This sounds cool. So it's kind of like an apocalyptic version of the game inFamous, and with angels.
Awesome.

That sounds pretty promision actually. Only don't make the usual mistake of misadjusting the powers too harshly.. that spoiled several Manga for me.

It sounds pretty good! Though, you'd have to explain how they got the superpowers. [Chemical radiation?? Nuc war does leave a lot of that afterwards...]
I really liked how you related sunlight to hope and to the city Hope. Good luck with it!

That reminds me, I once had a Pen & Paper running (which I never published unfortunately) where "mutants" could seize radiation to call upon various effects. Basically, they manipulated the wavelength of radiation (which is abnormally high and its easier to lower frequences then to raise them) to e.g. turn it into light or heat. Maybe something like that?

Very close, actually.
The 'angels' in this series are like the downgraded version of Dr. Manhattan. They can manipulate all forms of matter by influencing their atoms. But, since each mind works differently, the perception of them having different powers is given.
