I read the first chapter of long arms and I gotta say, I'm really confused. You give us a post apocalyptic earth for a setting but for a more specific setting (like where on earth the story takes place) you leave us with nothing.

For the cover page for a first chapter I would have liked to see some of the main characters interacting with each other or something. What you give us is the outline of a piece of the city and then put it upside down and I don't get why. Remember your cover page is the first thing the readers see so you need to intrigue them and make them interested.

Pages 1,2, and 3 are nice and well drawn, but they don't say post apocalyptic, the do say futuristic. Though I can't really sympathize with the character here because we have no idea why he was fired, or for that matter what exactly his job was we just see him pulling a lever which made something?

Page 4 is unneeded because you already give us the title of the manga on the cover page and you can put your name on there too.

Pages 5, 6, and 7 the gag doesn't make sense because it's just the wind and he's acting like it's alive, I know it says there are ghosts in the world, but until you introduce them in the story these kind of jokes just don't make an impact and make your character seem like they're not sane in the head.

I like pages 8,9,10, and 11 they're light and set a good mood and atmosphere. But I'm still confused on what's going on so far.

The bird sequence thing also confuses me, is that a ghost or a delusion made from the guys mind?

The comedy on pages 14 and 15 is really dark fits your mood perfectly, but blanching is partial cooking and it would ruin the skin and shrink it a bit because you're dehydrating the skin and then peeling it off so it doesn't regain any of the moisture. still it gave me a little chuckle.

Page 16 just disturbs me a bit, you'd lick up from the middle of a blade, not the edge, because you'd die. There's a major artery in the tongue so you'd bleed out fast.

I liked your last joke on the final three pages, but overall I'm confused on this chapter because this wasn't the best introduction or story setting chapter. There's no clearly defined enemy or goal really for what the story is gonna be about. There aren't enough jokes to make this a comedy though. I feel like you're trying to tell 90% of your story through the artwork which isn't working for me at all. I'd like to see some exposition (doesn't have to be a huge amount but it gives things a better polish so to speak) and a bit more character explanation. I mean we don't even know the two guys names which you'd think you'd mention once or twice in the first chapter.

The reason for the "cold open" (pages before the title page) is that originally Long Arm was on smack jeeves, and had no cover page. I decided to leave the old titles in because they also provided a break in narrative, even though they're redundant now that each chapter has a cover page. I hope that isn't too confusing.

As for the rest, it's a comedy. Don't think too hard about it, because it's mostly nonsense. (=゜ω゜) Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts though.

Hi! It's (f-f-fabulous from tumblr), I just finished chapter V and it's my favorite so far. Everything flowed smoothly from one setting to another and the jokes are too precious. While I'm sad you won't be able to update next month, it's much more important to take care of yourself and recover!

Hello!
I stopped by to say how much i like LongArm...

Im not an expert, of course, but this is what i think:

First, i really appreciate how the story is so interesting and unique. It keeps me wanting to see what's gonna happen next.
I thinks it's so good because the story itself but also the way you tell the story...

Second, the art is stunning! There are so many things i love about your art. All the characters are well proportioned, oh god that's so hard to find!. Also the fact that you draw pretty backgrounds. They are so cool, but you never over do it, so the character is the center of attention (i think).
I also like how you place the characters in their surroundings. i think that's not easy, but you do it very nicely!

And my third point is how well done your characters are! You probably know this, many people must have said it. They are all special and interesting! It makes it difficult to choose which one is my favorite, hahaha! I can feel how all of them has a story, that we, the readers, all are yearning to know!!!

I wish i knew more about comics, to make a proper critic...
(i also wish i knew more english adjectives)

Anyways, i hope you like my feedback!
